The Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa Collection
In an exciting development for luxury watch lovers and sailing enthusiasts alike, Officine Panerai has announced its official sponsorship of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team, named as the Challenger of Record of the 36th America’s Cup. Marking yet another milestone in the watchmaker’s long-standing association with the sea. One that traces its origins all the way back to early 20th-century, when the Florentine company built its reputation for providing robust, precise and reliable diving instruments to the elite frogmen commandos of the Royal Italian Navy. In more recent times, this maritime focus has expanded to included professional sailing, an adrenaline pumping, high-energy sport that demands equally robust and reliable timepieces.
As part of this exclusive partnership, Panerai has unveiled the new Luna Rossa collection, featuring four distinctive watches engineered for the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team. Inspired by the revolutionary full-foiling monohull AC75 Luna Rossa, these models boast extremely strong yet lightweight titanium or carbon fibre cases, distinctive sail cloth pattern dials and a host of other features that make them ideal companions for any and all sea-going adventures. PANERAI LUMINOR LUNA ROSSA REGATTA 47MM PAM01038
Equipped with Panerai’s in-house calibre P.9100/R, the only movement from the Manufacture to feature a regatta countdown complication specifically designed for the world of competitive sailing. This self-winding movement offers a robust 3-day power reserve, along with a flyback chronograph and a nautical scale for calculating rate of travel across the water. All of this is housed in the brand’s innovative Carbotech case, crafted from the same material used on the hull of the Luna Rossa. Even the protective crown lever, a hallmark of the Luminor family, is made from Carbotech with its distinctive marbled effect. To create this special material, layers and layers of carbon fibre are bonded and reinforced by polymers, resulting in a watch case that is extremely resilient and hard-wearing, as well as being corrosion-resistant.
And while it measures 47mm in diameter, the lightweight construction means a very comfortable fit on the wrist. As with the other models in the collection, the grey sail cloth patterned, sandwich dial is punctuated by red highlights that draw the eye and improve legibility. A black DLC-coated titanium screw-down caseback with special Luna Rossa engraving helps ensure a water resistance of 100m.

PANERAI SUBMERSIBLE LUNA ROSSA 47MM PAM01039
Designed to withstand any challenge the sea can throw at it, the Panerai Submersible Luna Rossa 47MM is a watch built for action. The XXL case – including its anti-clockwise rotating bezel with graduated scale and signature crown protection device – is crafted from lightweight, ultra-strong Carbotech. The dial features luminous hour markers and dots for easy reading in low-light conditions, with the date shown via a window at 3 o’clock and small seconds on a sub-dial at 9 o’clock. The latter features a red-tipped, luminous hand, matching the central GMT-hand, which allows for the simultaneous display of a second time-zone.
Inside is the self-winding P.9010/GMT calibre, executed entirely by Panerai. Twin-barrel architecture ensures a steady power-supply over 3-days, while an Incabloc® anti-shock device protects the movement from any knocks or jolts. As with the other models in this collection, the movement is safely tucked away behind a black DLC-coated titanium screw-down caseback with special Luna Rossa engraving. Worn on a Caoutchouc black rubber strap with titanium buckle, this model is water resistant to a robust 300m.
