Stainless steel is robust and practical for everyday use but also corrosion-resistant and unaffected by moisture, sweat and seawater splashes. These properties make it an ideal material for the case and bracelet of a watch. This new version of the Portugieser Automatic 40 is fitted with a 3-link metal bracelet with polished and satin-finished surfaces, adding a fresh and contemporary look and making the watch more versatile and sportier than ever before.

The clean and open dial with the small seconds at 6 o’clock is directly inspired by the first Portugieser from the late 1930s. Ticking away inside the case is the IWC-manufactured 82200 calibre, which can also be admired through the sapphire glass back. The Pellaton winding system has been reinforced with components made of virtually wear-free ceramic. It uses both directions of the rotor to wind the mainspring and builds up a power reserve of up to 60 hours.
