At Watches & Wonders, there’s always one Maison that’s sure to be on everyone’s lips, and that’s Cartier. Known for its timeless elegance and innovative designs, Cartier never fails to delight, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology to create compelling timepieces. This year’s showcase is no different, as Cartier presents a curated selection of new watches that exemplifies its dedication to craftsmanship and style. Read on to discover more about Cartier’s exciting and magical new releases for this year.

Santos-Dumont

A distinguished name in the world of horology, Cartier embodies sophistication, elegance, and timeless style in its watchmaking. With a rich heritage spanning over a century, it has established itself as a symbol of refinement and craftsmanship. Yet, as we’ve seen on many previous occasions, the Maison also has a playful side. A willingness to let the imagination run a little wild, if you will, and create something unexpected yet utterly enchanting. Which is perhaps the best way to describe the stunning Santos Dumont Rewind, with its rich carnelian lacquer dial that has almost a smoked look to it and its modernized pomme hands with a rhodium finish. Encased entirely in platinum, its beaded crown is set with a ruby cabochon and the watch is worn on a semi-matte brown alligator strap that closes with a platinum ardillon buckle.

And did we mention that this exclusive piece, limited to just 200 pieces also happens to tell the time in reverse? That’s right, take a closer look, as at first glance you may not have noticed that Cartier’s trademark Roman numerals run counterclockwise on the Santos Dumont Rewind. So too do its modernized, rhodium finished pomme hands. In fact, Cartier has inverted the entire manual-winding Calibre 230 MC movement, which means you even need to turn the crown opposite way to wind it.

That’s not all for the Santos Dumont collection though, as Cartier has also unveiled a further three limited editions at W&W24, each with a different colour lacquer dial. Unlike their stablemate though, these all display the time in the traditional clockwise format. The first option, also in platinum, features an olive-green lacquer dial with matching lacquered bezel and green strap. A ruby cabochon set into its beaded crown signifies its platinum status. Next is a peacock blue lacquer dial with matching bezel presented in a rose gold case, while last, but not least, is a grey lacquer dial with matching bezel in a yellow gold case. Each is powered by the Calibre 430, offering 38 hours of power reserve and 30m of water resistance, and each is offered as a limited edition of 200 pieces.

Santos De Cartier Dual Time

This year Cartier makes an exciting addition to its ever-popular Santos De Cartier line, with the introduction of a Dual Time model. Joining the main collection, it is presented in a stainless steel case measuring 40.2mm wide and standing 10.1mm high. A highly polished bezel draws the eye, contrasting superbly against the more muted tones of the brushed case and framing the silver toned dial, complete with a second 12-hour time display on a sub-dial at six o’clock with integrated AM/PM indicator.

In spite of the added complexity, Cartier has managed to maintain the case proportions that make the Cartier so appealing and comfortable on the wrist. The case also still retains its 100m water resistance rating and incorporates Cartier’s QuickSwitch bracelet change system so that you can easily change between the matching steel bracelet and additional grey leather strap. The steel bracelet features the brand’s SmartLink system, which allows for micro-adjustments without tools. The self-winding movement inside offers 48 hours of power reserve, along with a date function (in addition to the home and away time zones), all of which are controlled and set by the single crown.

Offered in solid yellow gold, solid rose gold, and three variations with gemstones set in white gold, this quartz-driven timepiece is discreetly housed within the cuff's aperture.

Reflection De Cartier Cuff

Cartier is well known – and adored – for its mastery of sculptural watches, and the new Reflection De Cartier Cuff serves as an excellent reminder of why this is. Best described as a mix between a bangle and a cuff, these spectacular pieces conceal a unique time display. At one end of the cuff is a classic Cartier dial replete with Roman numerals and a central time display. However, on the wrist, the dial faces away from the wearer and the time is instead reflected on the opposite side of the cuff’s opening, onto the polished gold surface, this time creating the illusion that the time is being displayed in reverse.

Glamourous and bold, the Reflection De Cartier Cuff is designed to stand out and stand alone on your wrist. This is not a bangle to be stacked with others, but rather the piece de resistance that defines your entire look. There are five different versions on offer, the two in yellow or rose gold respectively are slightly more understated (relatively speaking), whilst the high jewellery, gem set white gold models are simply breathtaking.

Animal Jewellery Watch

Cartier’s emblematic animals have been omnipresent in Cartier watchmaking since the panther’s coat first graced a watch case in 1914. This year the brand takes its creativity to a whole new level with an imaginary encounter between a zebra and crocodile that lends its coat to a fully-paved watch that is both graphic and organic, each stripe defined in lacquer by hand. This voluptuous oval shape curls, as if poised to strike, around a lozenge – shaped dial that demonstrates the Maison’s savoir-faire through the delicately carved decoration that surrounds each coloured-stone. The result is quite simply unlike anything you have seen before and is truly mesmerizing, perfectly tying together the Maison’s theme of magic this year.
