Hublot Makes It Hip To Be Square In 2022
When it comes to new releases from Swiss luxury watch maker Hublot there is only one rule: expect the unexpected. And this year’s novelties are no exception. Leading the charge is a square-shaped Big Bang, representing a totally new geometry for Hublot. It’s joined by the Big Bang Integral in four new colourways, each available in a limited edition of 250 pieces and representing the elements of WATER, EARTH and WOOD. Rounding out our selection of new releases for 2022 is the new Hublot Classic Fusion Orlinski featuring a sculpted yet ergonomic integrated metallic bracelet. Truly a work of art for the wrist! Read on for all the details and to find out how you can secure your favourite new model.
The Hublot Square Bang Unico Collection
It could be said that one of the greatest challenges for Hublot’s R&D department these days is finding new challenges. That may sound a little cliché but it’s also true. Having been at the forefront of creating and innovating hi tech materials, setting up the craziest of partnerships and developing the most extraordinary of complications, Hublot’s talented team has truly taken the idiom “leave no stone unturned” literally. Yet, there is one area they have never explored – square-shaped watches. That is, until now.
The new Hublot Square Bang Unico is at once familiar and yet totally unlike anything we have seen from the Maison before. Inspired by the iconic Big Bang, the Square Bang Unico adds a new pillar, ‘The Shaped Collection’ to sit alongside the Spirit of Big Bang. As with its round and tonneau-shaped counterparts, it is defined by a distinctive aesthetic. A 42mm, modular case construction, with a central housing dressed with an upper and lower plate to enable a myriad of combinations and transformations. A sandwich-style dial crafted primarily from sapphire to give a clear view of the HUB1280 Unico Manufacture movement beneath – including the visible column wheel of the chronograph at 6 o’clock. And a flat bezel held in place by six screws, set at exactly the same places as on the Big Bang.
Completing the look is a new strap decorated with ‘chocolate squares’ to further emphasise the Square Bang’s identity. Each model comes with a black rubber strap and a folding clasp in the same material as the case. And thanks to its interchangeable (One Click) system, you can quickly and easily change the look of your watch in one click with an impressive range of Rubber, Alligator and soon soft-touch leather straps.
Five 42 mm models are already available. The first three are in solid titanium, black ceramic or King Gold. The last two blend titanium or King Gold with a black ceramic bezel.
Hublot Big Bang Integral Ceramic Element
Unveiled in 2020, the Big Bang Integral was the first Big Bang to be equipped with a tailored integrated bracelet. An instant hit with collectors and enthusiasts alike, Hublot expands the collection this year with 4 new monochrome shades of ceramic. An indigo blue from the Majorelle Garden and the streets of Chefchaouen in Morocco, and the Blue City of Jodhpur in Rajasthan. A sky blue from the South Seas. A sand beige from the deserts, and from the beaches of the Caribbean. And a jungle green from the tropical forests. All packed in a 42-mm case, ready to take you on a non-stop 72-hour journey tracked by the HUB1280 calibre featuring a slimmer design, new architecture, easier assembly and enhanced legibility and functionality. Each colour will be offered in a limited edition of 250 pieces worldwide.
Hublot Classic Fusion Orlinski Bracelet
Since 2017, Hublot has worked in collaboration with the French contemporary artist Richard Orlinski. This year the Maison marks the beginning of a new phase in this partnership by presenting four versions of the Classic Fusion Orlinski fitted with a new integrated metallic bracelet. Like the watch itself, the design is inspired by Orlinski’s sculptures. Bevelled and faceted in titanium and composed of 83 parts, its chamfered forms play with the reflections of its mirror-polished facets, while the H-shaped links recall the Hublot logo. At 40mm in diameter it suits all wrists and genders and comes in your choice of a black or white ceramic dial displaying the angular facets so unique to Mr. Orlinski. There is also a stunning partially pave set version of the Classic Fusion Orlinski Bracelet watch available. Playing with shade and light, certain facets on the case, bezel and bracelet are adorned with diamonds, totalling a weight of 3.79 carats.
