IWC Schaffhausen Unveils Bold New Timepieces for 2025

The renowned Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen has once again demonstrated its engineering prowess and design excellence with an exceptional lineup of new timepieces unveiled at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025. As IWC continues its legacy of precision engineering dating back to 1868, this year’s collection brilliantly showcases the brand’s versatility and technical mastery across various watch categories.

The 2025 lineup features something truly special for every collector – from the technically complex Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month with its innovative Ceratanium® construction to a trio of chronographs celebrating IWC’s partnership with the highly anticipated Formula One film F1®. Also joining the collection is a limited edition Ingenieur Automatic 40 with a striking green dial inspired by the movie, alongside an elegantly proportioned new Ingenieur Automatic 35 line offering the iconic design in a more compact size.

Each timepiece embodies IWC’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship while pushing the boundaries of materials, complications, and design. Let’s explore these remarkable new additions in detail.

Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month

The most technically complex of the new releases is the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month (Ref. IW388801). This sophisticated timepiece features a striking all-black design executed in Ceratanium® – IWC’s proprietary material that combines titanium’s lightweight properties with ceramic’s scratch resistance.

The watch showcases a perpetual calendar that displays the date and month in digital format using large gold-coloured discs, inspired by IWC’s historic Pallweber pocket watches from the 1880s. This complex mechanism automatically adjusts for months of different lengths and even leap years, requiring adjustment only once every 100 years.

Powered by the in-house 89802 calibre movement with 474 individual components, this watch also features a chronograph function with a tachymeter scale on its ceramic bezel. The black dial with a distinctive hammered texture serves as the perfect backdrop for the gold-coloured displays, while the sapphire glass case back reveals the blackened movement with its skeletonised rotor.

Pilot’s Watch Chronographs Inspired by “APXGP” from F1® The Movie

Celebrating IWC’s partnership with Apple Original Film’s highly anticipated movie F1®, the brand has released three special chronographs inspired by the fictional “APXGP” racing team featured in the film.
The standout piece is the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388309) with an 18-carat 5N gold case, black lacquered dial, and ceramic tachymeter bezel. This is the very model that will be worn by actor Damson Idris’ character Joshua Pearce in the film. The exquisite gold case is complemented by gold-plated appliques and hands filled with white Super-LumiNova®, all fitted with a black rubber strap featuring IWC’s EasX-CHANGE® system.

Two IWC APXGP Chronograph models - 43mm Ref. IW378009 and 41mm Ref. IW388116 with black dials, gold-plated hands, white numerals, and black rubber straps featuring the APXGP team logo.
The APXGP Chronograph collection from IWC Schaffhausen (Ref. IW378009 and IW388116) combines Formula One racing aesthetics with Swiss precision chronograph movements.

For those seeking the racing team aesthetic in a more accessible package, IWC offers two stainless steel alternatives: the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph APXGP (Ref. IW378009) in a 43mm case and the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 APXGP (Ref. IW388116) in a more compact 41mm size. Both feature black dials with white numerals and golden minute markers, gold-plated hands filled with Super-LumiNova®, and tinted sapphire case backs displaying the “APXGP” team logo in gold. These models come on black rubber straps with special laser engraving commemorating the team.

All three chronographs are powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre, featuring a classic column-wheel design that measures stop times of up to 12 hours with exceptional precision. The bidirectional pawl winding system builds up a power reserve of 46 hours.

Ingenieur Automatic 40 Green Dial Limited Edition

Film enthusiasts and watch collectors alike will appreciate the Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328908) with its striking green dial. Limited to just 1000 pieces worldwide, this special edition draws inspiration from the watch worn by Brad Pitt’s character Sonny Hayes in the F1® film.

The stainless steel timepiece features the iconic “Grid” patterned dial in vibrant green with gold-plated appliques and hands filled with Super-LumiNova® for excellent legibility. The characteristic Ingenieur bezel is secured with five functional screws, while the integrated bracelet offers exceptional comfort.

Powered by the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre with an impressive 120-hour power reserve, this watch maintains the Ingenieur tradition with a soft-iron inner case that effectively shields the movement from magnetic fields.

The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 collection featuring three models - 18-carat 5N gold with gold dial (Ref. IW324903), stainless steel with silver-plated dial (Ref. IW324901), and stainless steel with black dial (Ref. IW324906).
IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 collection (Ref. IW324903, IW324901, IW324906) features compact luxury sports watches with the iconic five-screw bezel design and integrated bracelet.

Ingenieur Automatic 35

Completing the 2025 collection is the Ingenieur Automatic 35, a more compact iteration of IWC’s luxury sports watch. Available in three versions, this new model features the same enhanced ergonomics and detailed finishing as its larger counterpart but in a 35mm case diameter.

The collection includes an elegant 18-carat 5N gold version with a gold-coloured dial (Ref. IW324903), as well as two stainless steel models with either a silver-plated dial (Ref. IW324901) or a black dial (Ref. IW324906).

With a thickness of just 9.44mm, these watches maintain all the characteristic design elements of the Ingenieur, including the iconic bezel with five functional screws, integrated bracelet, and the distinctive “Grid” pattern dial with applied indices. The open case back showcases the 47110 calibre with automatic winding and a 42-hour power reserve.
