Meet The Latest Additions to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Collection
TAG Heuer expands its offering of stylish yet robust quartz-powered watches for the outdoor enthusiast with two new additions to the popular Aquaracer collection. The first, the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph, is the follow up to a successful model of the same name launched in 2022. This time though, TAG Heuer has opted for the full titanium experience. The second arrival is the sporty Aquaracer Professional 200 Date, available in three different dial colours, all of which are available from Watches of Switzerland right now. Keep reading for everything you need to know about these latest additions to the TAG Heuer Aquaracer collection.
The Aquaracer Collection
The Aquaracer collection is a relatively new one by Swiss watchmaking standards. The name was officially introduced to the world in 2004, with the collection being established in full in 2005. However, this is not actually where the story begins. Rather, it was a few decades earlier, in 1978 to be precise. That was the year Heuer – as the company was then known – debuted its first dive watch, the Heuer Monnin Diver ref. 844. Powered by a quartz movement, it was water resistant to 200m and presented in a 42mm steel case. This humble model serves as the forbearer to the present-day Aquaracer collection, with multiple evolutions and improvements coming over the ensuing years.
Today, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer is immediately recognizable by its angular, 12-faceted bezel, designed for easy gripping and optimal functionality, even in the most challenging of conditions. Likewise, every model in the collection is water resistant to a minimum of 200m, aided by screw-down crowns and twin gaskets, which ensure a water-tight seal. As you would expect for a watch collection designed to go anywhere you do, ease of use and legibility are high on the list of requirements, as are rugged good looks.
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph
Created with the outdoor adventurer in mind, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer 200 Solargraph can stand up to pretty much anything you throw at it. The 40mm case is constructed from lightweight, sandblasted grade 2 Titanium, as is the matching three-row bracelet and folding clasp with comfort extension link. Likewise, the unidirectional turning bezel is crafted from the same material and features a 60-minute diving scale.
What really makes this piece special though is the semi-translucent black dial, which allows light to power the TH50-00 solar movement underneath. Just two minutes of sunlight will provide enough energy to power the watch for a full day, and 20 hours of solar charge provides six months of power. As is characteristic of the Aquaracer collection, the dial is sunray-brushed and features horizontal striping. Hours are marked by white indices, which, along with the hour hand, glow bright green in low light. The five-minute markers (at the top of each hour index) are in contrasting polar blue, matching the running seconds. To help divers quickly distinguish between the two in murky waters, the minute hand also glows in polar blue.
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Date
Combining dive watch functionality with TAG Heuer’s rich motor racing heritage, the Aquaracer Professional 200 Date is water resistant to 200m and features a three-register chronograph accurate to 1/10th of a second. Three dial colours – all featuring horizontal striping and sun-ray brushed finishing – are available; light blue, black and silver. Hours and minutes are shown centrally, while the date is prominently displayed through two apertures at 12 o’clock. As with the Solargraph model above, the hour indices and hour hand glow bright green in low light, while the minute hand lights up in a contrasting polar blue.
At 40mm, the stainless-steel case is well suited to almost all wrist sizes and shows contrasting polished and brushed finishes. It is paired with a matching, three-row bracelet in steel with polished centre links and a folding clasp with comfort extension link. Powered by a quartz movement, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Date delivers reliable timekeeping and practical functionality in a compact and stylish package.
