These Are All The New Models Tudor Unveiled At Watches & Wonders 2024
Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024, one of the biggest events on the luxury watch industry’s calendar has officially kicked off. Front and centre, and drawing far more than its fair share of attention (as usual), TUDOR has delighted collectors and enthusiasts alike with the unveiling of several new models this year, including the Black Bay 58 GMT with a burgundy and black (aka ‘Coke’) bezel, the Black Bay 58 18k (the model’s first full gold offering), the original Black Bay but now in a sleek monochromatic finish, and several variations of the Clair De Rose with stunning blue dials. No matter what your tastes run to, there’s something for just about everyone here. Read on as we unpack all the new releases from TUDOR.
TUDOR Black Bay 58 GMT Burgundy & Black
Already destined to be one of the most talked about watches of the fair, TUDOR has introduced a GMT version to its popular Black Bay 58 collection. Offered in a steel 39mm case standing 12.8mm high, it retains similar proportions to the original Black Bay 58 whilst introducing significant added functionality. This is made possible by TUDOR’s Manufacture Calibre MT5450-U (which carries both COSC and METAS certifications). This self-winding mechanical movement features a bidirectional rotor system complete with integrated GMT function and delivers a healthy 65-hour power reserve. As with all models in the Black Bay 58 collection, this new watch is certified as water resistant to 200m.
The other big talking point is of course the Black Bay 58 GMT’s colourway. Unlike TUDOR’s other GMT models, which feature the more familiar blue and burgundy bezel insert (or black and brown in the case of S&G models), the Black Bay 58 GMT features a 24-hour bidirectional rotatable bezel in stainless steel with black and burgundy anodised aluminium insert. Collectors colloquially refer to this as the “Coke” bezel, due to its resemblance to the colour scheme of a famous carbonated beverage. TUDOR has completed the look with gilt-effect numerals that are matched by gilt accents on the dial markers and hands. Available on your choice of three-link steel bracelet or a fitted rubber strap, both equipped with TUDOR’s “T-fit” clasp that offers a tool-free system for rapid length adjustment.
TUDOR Black Bay 58 18k
Also joining the Black Bay 58 collection this year is a full gold version of the Black Bay 58, aptly named the TUDOR Black Bay 58 18k. And if it looks familiar, that’s because it is, having first been introduced to the Black Bay 58 collection in 2021. Back then though it was only available on a brown alligator leather strap. This year’s model sees the addition of a solid, satin finished 18k gold bracelet matching the case, complete with yellow gold “T-fit” clasp.
A truly superb piece of craftmanship from TUDOR, it retains its distinctive domed green dial framed by a unidirectional rotatable bezel in 18ct yellow gold with 60-minute graduated disc in matt green anodised aluminium and gold gilded markings and numerals. Inside – and visible through a sapphire caseback – is the Manufacture Calibre MT5400, a self-winding movement that has been certified as a chronometer by the COSC. Expect this to be a very rare beast indeed.
TUDOR Black Bay (monochrome)
You may recall that TUDOR launched the third evolution of its iconic Black Bay timepiece last year. At the time, it was available exclusively with a burgundy bezel and a black gilt dial, a significant colour combination for both the model and the brand but not necessarily one that is to everyone’s tastes. This year TUDOR broadens the appeal of its most popular model ever further by gifting collectors exactly what they have been asking for – a monochromatic version of the Black Bay sans any gilt on the dial. It’s at once understated and contemporary, yet still manages to retain a hint of the collection’s vintage charm.
Like its burgundy brother, the 41mm case of this monochromatic version of the Black Bay is crafted from steel, showing polished and satin finishes. There are two bracelet options; an entirely satin-brushed three-link steel bracelet or a five-oval-shaped-link brushed and polished steel bracelet, or alternatively you can opt for a rubber strap, all three of which are fitted with the TUDOR “T-fit” clasp. The dial features the familiar Black Bay layout complete with Snowflake hands, all in a very tasteful silver. A notable addition to the dial is the words “MASTER CHRONOMETER”, in reference to the model’s Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U, a self-winding movement that has been certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS, the Federal Institute of Metrology. This comprehensive certification process covers the main functional characteristics of a watch including precision, resistance to magnetic fields, waterproofness and power reserve, and is recognised as one of the highest standards in the industry.
Clair De Rose
Clair de Rose is a classic TUDOR line whose name poetically refers to both clair de lune, “moonlight” in French, and the historical logo of the brand, a rose, combining the two in a playful way. This year, TUDOR introduces six new models to the collection, all in polished steel and all featuring eye-catching “TUDOR Blue” dials with delicate decorations in relief, accentuated by Roman numerals or diamonds. Available in three different case sizes – 26mm, 30mm and 34mm – the watches are sophisticated and elegant, yet also very contemporary in their designs, making them the ideal companion for whatever your day or night may bring. Paired with a matching polished steel bracelet with folding clasp and safety catch, the Clair De Rose models are all powered by self-winding mechanical movements.
