The International Watch Company or “IWC” has always marched to the beat of its own drum. From its founding by an American – Florentine Ariosto Jones – in 1868, to its unique location in Schaffhausen, directly on the banks of the Rhine, this is a brand that doesn’t follow the crowd. While the vast majority of Switzerland’s watch manufacturers are based in the French-speaking part of the country, Jones specifically chose Schaffhausen due the topography of the region, which provided ample water power for driving the machinery on which his manufacturing model was based.

Much has changed at IWC since then, of course, but the unusual geographical location and Jones’ vision for precision engineering combined with skilled hand work in finishing, assembling, and regulating has played a major role in shaping the company’s philosophy. Today, IWC produces precision timepieces of lasting value with a clear focus on technology and development.
With a passion for innovative solutions and technical inventiveness, IWC’s watch families – the Pilot’s Watches, Portugieser, Portofino, Ingenieur, Aquatimer and Da Vinci – look back on a long tradition. They attest to the ingenuity of the engineers in Schaffhausen through four generations and embrace the broad range of the company’s watchmaking expertise: from robust watches for everyday use to the complexities of haute horlogerie at its finest.
Owners can also take advantage of My IWC, the brand’s customer care platform, which allows for a 6-year extension to the original 2-year International Limited Warranty with every new timepiece purchase. Additionally, as a member of My IWC, you will enjoy privileged access to the world of IWC, benefitting from specialized advice and exclusive services.
IWC Schaffhausen is available at our Watches of Switzerland Boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra. As an authorised IWC Service Centre, we provide an after sales service for the lifetime of your IWC watch.
